WITCHSKULL - Gold Coast
Canberra's Witchskull have become one of the most genuinely intriguing and bludgeoning bands in the scene today, injecting every last moment of their rampaging anthems with a jolting dose of lysergic menace in a lauded career spanning over a decade. Blending new wave British Heavy Metal and traditional Doom, coupled with an authentic insight into the occult and mesmerising lyrics, the band have topped the famed 'Doom Charts' and supported the likes of Church of Misery (JAP), Acid King (USA), 1000mods (GRE), Beastwars (NZ), Nashville Pussy (USA) and more. To the uninitiated, Witchskull have been carving their own unique niche in Australia’s Doom Metal scene, releasing four acclaimed full length albums along the way including 2023's 'Serpent Tide' (Rise Above Records), described as "an absolute beast of a record, absolutely massive especially in the riff department." The Sleeping Shaman Catch the trio in a rare Northern show run. "It’s hard to believe it’s been 7 years since we last played QLD! We had a ball on both previous trips North and are absolutely hanging to get back there." More a brotherhood than a band, Witchskull unleash a stripped back, groove driven primal sound with the aggression that you would expect a 3-piece Australian band to deliver. Presented by Beats Cartel. "One of the best doom shows anywhere in the world" - Doomed and Stoned Supports to be announced. Beneath the Surface
Beneath the SurfaceBeneath the Surface weaves together shifting perspectives on the presence of water within the Australian landscape. Where some artists look to natural waterways for inspiration, others create more symbolic commentary using water as a metaphor to reveal hidden histories and unseen power structures. Through painting, printmaking, photography and sculptural installation, water is examined as a channel for memory, culture and transformation. At the heart of the exhibition is the monumental painting The rainforest by William Robinson (1936-2025), a key work from the HOTA Collection. Here, the artist depicts the winding Botan Creek in Beechmont, a World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforest located in the Gold Coast Hinterland. The exhibition includes artworks on loan from the Jreissati Family Private Collection, alongside artworks from the HOTA Collection. HOTA wishes to thank the Jreissati family for their continued support. Moogerah Passion Play
The Moogerah Passion Play is produced by the Moogerah Passion Play Association Inc. a non-denominational association established in 1993.The play has the primary aim of telling the story of Jesus. Up to 100 people are involved as cast and crew to bring the story of Jesus Christ to life and around 3 000 people attend the performances each year.By using drama, many who come and see the play will understand the central truth of the good news (that’s what Gospel means) that Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God who came so all who believe in him can have eternal life. They present the play close to Easter as that is when Christians around the world remember the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.Their one aim is to present the story as faithfully as we can without regard to doctrine. Their hope is that by coming to see the play, you will look at the story of Jesus with new eyes.
