The Spooky Men’s Chorale - 25 Years of Pointless Grandeur
The Spooky Men’s Chorale - 25 Years of Pointless GrandeurThe Spooky Men’s Chorale is a magnificent, many-headed beast which has single-handedly turned the world of men’s signing upside down. Bypassing well trodden avenues, they carve out new territories of mighty man sounds, exquisite tenderness and charming stupidity to both celebrate masculinity and mock it.Formed in New South Walkes in 2001, the Spooks have become rock-solid festival and theatre favourites in Australia, UK and Europe, with seven albums and 900 gigs under their belts. No subject is too trivial or weighty for their attention, and such ability to find new musical rooms to explore contributes greatly to their astonishing fan loyalty. The show evokes musical worlds far beyond that suggested by their unassuming, casually hatted black-clad appearance. They are just a bunch of blokes but where they take you will blow your mind.

Songs From 1975
Songs From 1975The Honey Sliders are back with a new show! This year they are paying homage to the music from 1975. It was the year Bruce Springsteen broke out with his first hit ‘Born to Run’, Led Zeppelin released their opus Physical Graffiti (featuring the epic ‘Kashmir’), David Bowie reinvented himself with ‘Golden Years’, ‘Fame’, and ‘Young Americans’, Fleetwood Mac tipped the charts with “Rhiannon’, Bob Dylan hit top gear with arguably his best album ‘Blood on the Tracks’, Neil Young released two albums ‘Tonight’s the Night’, and ‘Zuma’, and Willie Nelson had a number one hit with ‘Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain’, John Lennon recorded a timeless version of ‘Stand By Me’, and the list goes on… The Honey Sliders will play all of these songs plus many more, live on stage, in a night to remember. 1975 was also when The Honey Sliders’ band leader Danny Widdicombe was born, so this is like a 50th birthday party for him, and his 30th year of living with leukaemia and all its complications. Danny has been diagnosed and managed to fight off leukaemia three times since his first diagnosis back in 1995 so this is a big milestone for him and his loved ones - and it’s going to be one hell of a celebration! The Honey Sliders have been putting on themed concerts every year since 2013. Over the last twelve years, they have curated 15 different shows including The Beatles’ ‘Rooftop Concert’ and ‘Abbey Road’, The Rolling Stones’ ‘Sticky Fingers’ and ‘Let it Bleed’ with Tim Rogers on vocals, The Band’s ‘The Last Waltz’ with guests such as Bernard Fanning, Troy Cassar-Daley, Jeff Lang and more, Neil Young’s ‘On the Beach’ and ‘Harvest’ as well as ‘Zuma’, and ‘Tonight’s the Night’ and many more. It’s a labour of love and the band pride themselves on the attention to detail they put into working up their favourite music. Come sing along to all these classic tunes from ’75!

KOAL
KOALFresh off a hit run at Theatre Works in Melbourne and PhysFestNYC in New York City, KOAL is a one-woman climate-catastrophe-clown-show for the end of the world. As wildfires tear through Australia, a baby koala, a coal miner and an Indigenous girl desperately strive to hold onto their homes before all burns and turns to ash. KOAL is an original interactive solo-show, performed by Jacinta Yelland (RealTV, Elbow Room, Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre, Pig Iron Theatre Company, David Gordon) and directed by Trey Lyford (rainpan 43, The Civilians), that immerses the audience in the middle of the 2019 Australian bushfires. The show follows two eyewitnesses to this climate catastrophe; Koal, a baby koala recovering at a wildlife sanctuary after being saved from a nearby wildfire, and Stevo, a career coal miner trapped in a collapsed mine hundreds of metres underground. Woven throughout is the story of Minah, an Indigenous girl who was removed from her home and interned by her government during WWII. Using documentary theatre, clown, and audience interaction, KOAL takes the audience from laughter to tears as it explores what is lost when your home is erased.
