Find Your Perspective
There's a rumour that we're not a very "artsy" place. Good thing it's just a rumour. Galleries, theatre groups, nostalgia museums, sculpture festivals and indigenous performances just brush the surface of a cultural canvas that goes far deeper. As they say - art is purely a matter of perspective after all. Looking for more inspiration? Check out the cultural highlights of the Gold Coast hinterland.

A Bigger View
Embark on a journey of epic proportions as you immerse yourself in monumental works of art from the National Gallery of Australia (NGA). Made possible through the Australian Government's Sharing the National Collection initiative, this exhibition brings together masterpieces from the NGA alongside major works from our very own collection. Spanning decades and continents, each epic in scale and subject, these artworks demonstrate the various and unique approaches artists take to the landscape. A highlight for visitors will be two artworks created by Henri Matisse (1869 -1954), one of Europe's greatest twentieth-century modernist artists. Accompanying Matisse's uniquely abstracted views of sea and sky forms is an extraordinary work by senior Australian artist, Imants Tillers, presenting a vision of the Australian landscape inspired by Eugene Von Guérard's 1863 masterpiece North-east view from the northern top of Mount Kosciusko, seen here together for the first time. These works will be complemented by stunning works from HOTA's own collection. Uluru by Pintupi artist Long Tom Tjapanangka brings a First Nations perspective of Australia's biggest landmark to the exhibition, and a stunning hinterland painting by beloved Australian artist Wiliam Robinson invites contemplation of the natural world around us. Prepare to be awestruck by the grandeur of these works, as you explore a bigger view.

National Gallery of Australia: Enjoy this Trip - The Art of Music Posters
National Gallery of Australia: Enjoy this Trip - The Art of Music Posters'The musicians were turning up their amplifiers to the point where they were blowing out your eardrums. I did the equivalent with the eyeballs.' Victor MoscosoDrawn from the National Gallery’s expansive collection of Australian and international music posters spanning the 1960s to 1980s, Enjoy this trip: The art of music posters captures the spirit of the times as an era of experimentation. Journey back to the Summer of Love and be transported to a time when the music was funky, the art was kaleidoscopic and psychedelia was in full swing. Enjoy this trip presents a nostalgic exploration of the times through art, graphic design, music, colour and typography. Make-up Masterclass with Amanda Wignall
Come along and enjoy a fun 3 hour make-up class with Amanda to learn all her tips and tricks! After working as a professional model for just over a decade, and having a life long active interest in skin care and make-up, plus continuing my study in skin care and professional make-up I have finally decided to dedicate myself wholly to this industry.Welcome to Cocoon Skin and Beauty - My Skin Clinic and Make-up Studio! My name is Amanda, and at 54 my skin has changed quite considerably since my modeling days. I'd love to help all women who are feeling a bit overwhelmed by life changes and wanting to update their skin care and make-up routines.I also cater for young ladies who may be starting out on their make-up journey and want to learn how to get the most out of their apprearance or need advice on products and techniques that suit their skin type.I offer intimate groups of up to 6 people at my home studio for make-up masterclasses. During this 3 hour class, you will learn techniques for an every day look, including:brow shapingcontouringhighlighter placementhow to get the most out of your eyelasheslip colours to suit youeyeshadows to make your eyes shineYou will receive my make-up masterclass booklet with notes and diagrams of product placement, and I will help you select colours that suit your complexion. What people are saying:"I was just feeling super washed up and haggard, I feel so much more confident in my skin and well put together. I make more eye contact , I worry less about how blotchy I might get as the day goes on. The makeup how you taught during your class lasts all day, even today when it was super humid." - Jackie A"I can highly recommend Amanda’s makeup classes, as she tailored the lesson to our mature skin, and focused on the techniques and products that will flatter and brighten our skin to give a glowing and fresh look, which doesn’t look stupid for our age.I’ve been wanting to do a makeup course for some time, but always been hesitant, as was worried I’d look silly, but this was prefect, as it was very personalised. Amanda’s lessons cover everything from choosing the right foundation to applying makeup in a way that enhances natural beauty without looking overdone. The steps were easy-to-follow, with a step-by-step booklet to remind you afterwards; a few practice sessions at home and I’m applying makeup in under 15mins for work in a way that flatters my skin.No more walking past a window/mirror wondering why did I leave home looking like that! So pleased I did the course and wish I’d done it earlier – sign up as you will not be disappointed." - Jacqui HCOST: A$69
