Easter Eggstravaganza Sanctuary Cove

An Egg-Stra Special Easter at Sanctuary Cove-1

Join in the annual Easter fun at Sanctuary Cove - a free, family-friendly vent with pony rides, a petting zoo, craft,  face painting and an epic Easter scavenger hunt. Sanctuary Cove provides the perfect backdrop with cafés, restaurants and boutiques to browse.

Cost: Free, but you need to register for the Easter Egg Hunt.

Easter in the Laneway - Cavill Lane Surfers Paradise

Celebrate in the heart of Surfers Paradise at Cavill Lane with free live music from 6.30 - 8.30 eah day, plust visits from the Easter Bunny. Make a night of it, and enjoy delicious dining in the laneway’s restaurants to keep the Easter fun going.

Easter Weekend at Southport Sharks

The long weekend means an extra helping of fun at Southport Sharks. It will be an action-packed celebration with free live entertainment and plenty of family-friendly good times. Kids will be delighted with free face painting, balloon art and a special Easter-themed show. Foodies will be thrilled with delicious eats, festive treats and buffet dining and there’ll be live music all weekend long.

Have a Hoppy Easter at Paradise Centre

Hop on down the Paradise Centre at the beach end of Cavill Ave and visit Hoppy Hollow Catch the Easter Bunny on his way around the centre sharing some sweet surprises and make your own bunny at a free craft workshop. The holiday fun doesn’t stop there - keep the kids entertained with a visit to the world’s largest Timezone, Zone Bowling. Freak VR or Padlock’d Escape Room.

Childrens' Gallery at HOTA

Saltwater Heart Exhibition

Spend a morning at HOTA Children's Gallery exploring the latest immersive exhibition- Aka Sorbie: Saltwater Heart. Lisa Sorbie Martin invites you to share in her art and Torres Strait culture as memories and moments her childhood are brought to life and infused with the vibrant colours and patterns of her art practice.  

Connect to Aka Sorbie’s saltwater heart as you play and learn about the reef, play cubby in the island hut, relax at the story tree, discover patterns in nature and art, and get creative at Aka’s table. This is a place to bring freshwater and saltwater people together to share stories, learn about First Nations culture and celebrate the natural environment.  

Combine your trip to the gallery with a movie at HOTA cinemas, a walk around the Evandale lake and parklands (HOTA is located within them) or a lunch at rooftop venue, The Exhibitionist.

Broadbeach Bricks

LEGO lovers get ready to build, explore and get creative at the Oasis Shopping Centre this Easter hols. Broadbeach Bricks is 5 days of hands-on fun, and epic LEGO builds where everyone is invited to help construct a buzzing brick-built metropolis - Megacity. Think towering skyscrapers, busy construction sites, transport hubs, emergency services, and futuristic cityscapes.

Free 1-hour workshops with LEGO Masters Australia stars Andrew and Damien give kids the chance to unleash their imaginations and build incredible city creations alongside true LEGO pros. Don’t miss this out-of-this-world LEGO adventure! NB: Workshops are free but registration is essential. Book now to avoid disappointment.

Park Life

 

The Gold Coast has some epic parks and playgrounds where kids can run around, enjoy the outdoors and burn off some of that endless energy! Give them a spin on the playground at Broadwater Parklands Penninsula Playground, complete with four level spiral tower, glockenspiel, binoculars, telescopes, suspended nets, rope tunnels, enclosed slide, jumping mats, a carousel and more. Or if pirates are more your tribes pace, Pirate Park at Palm Beach Parklands is a creative playground where kids can climb, swing, slide and even walk the plank on a playground resembling a giant Pirate Ship. Fuel up at Dune Cafe nearby and bring your swimmers as the sparkling waters of Currumbin Creek are right alongside. (Image: Tourism and Events Queensland)

Little Nature Lovers

City of Gold Coast’s Naturally GC Kids School Holidays Program is set to inspire budding Attenboroughs with workshops spanning locations from Coombabah to Currumbin and many of them are free. With a focus on nature based learning while exploring the Gold Coast’s natural environment, a huge range of workshops span nature art and craft, wildlife encounters, guided walks through different habitats, Indigenous culture and marine life. Sessions are designed to engage, connect and cultivate in kids a greater understanding of where we live, and how to love and conserve it.

Art Roll

Hot tip for keeping the kids active and igniting curious, creative mind. Check out Art Roll -   a self-guided art trail through the suburb of Miami. All you need is to bring the kids, some wheels (skates, bikes, wheelchairs or scooters will do), put on their comfiest kicks and roll. Following a free downloadable map, you can decide how much distance you want to cover, visiting numerous colourful and contemplative street art murals on buildings, walls and warehouses. There’s also plenty of places to stop, play, swim and fuel up on food and treats along the trail.

Gold Coast Markets

The Gold Coast Art and Craft Markets are held every Sunday. These beachside markets are always popular and change location each week, but wherever they are, it’s a great way to spend the morning browsing stalls in the sunshine and snacking on the delicious fare from food trucks and vendors. On April 6 and 20, they’ll be at Pratten Park, Broadbeach, and on Sunday 13, you can find them at Coolangatta along Marine Parade. Check out more Gold Coast Markets here.

Supanova is an awesome annual event is for fans of sci-fi, fantasy tv, films and books as well as anime, gaming, comics and  cartoons. Special guests including authors, actors and comic book creators participate in signing sessions, photo ops and panel discussions with their fans. Plenty of people attend Supanova in cosplay and checking out the incredible costumes is half the fun. You can also check out amazing artwork at Artist’s Alley and browse stalls of merchandise, collectibles, comics and more.

Street Food Festival at Dreamworld

Dreamworld's Street Food Festival returns for the school holidays. From April 4 - 19, taste your way around a world of flavours with three precincts showcasing a mouthwatering selection of food from Asia, America and Europe. From woodfired pizzas, to delicious dumplings and smoked brisket, you can feast on all manner of mouthwatering street food from across the globe. Brining the Street Food Festival to life, will be buskers, musicians and life entertainment including Japanese street drummers and Lion dancers. And good news - access is included with your Dreamworld entry. Bonus!

Historic Rivermill

Historic Rivermill combines nature, animal encounters and great food in a charming riverside setting. The rustic rural property on the Coomera River has friendly farmyard animals - alpacas, deer and goats. You can spot wild turtles, relax in the scenic grounds and stop by the on-site cafe for meals, snacks and coffee.

Ranger For a Day at Paradise Country

Do your kids dream of becoming a wildlife ranger or just love animals? Give them the best school holidays ever, by signing them up to be Ranger For a Day at Paradise Country. They’ll need to be aged 6 - 13 to enlist, but can expect to find out what it's actually like to be a Wildlife Keeper for a day with duties including animal feeding, handling and park preparation for animals such as kangaroos, wombats, Tasmanian devils, dingoes, koalas, marmosets and meerkats. How cool is that?

Say Hi to Hijinx Hotel

Hijinx Hotel Surfers Paradise

If your kids think they have done it all before - check them (and you) into the Hijinx Hotel where an immersive playhouse full of fun awaits. Ten rooms host between two to six players who will need to work together to solve challenges, engage in tasks, play games and score points. From candy coloured ball pits, mini basketball courts, giant scrabble and more. We won’t give it all away but you can add bowling, mini-golf, arcade games and dodgem cars to the school holiday fun card too - so the kids will be stoked!
